Clinton's Israeli Aid / By Yoav Frumer

(April 30th, 2006)

...If you ask Mickey Bergman how did he get at the age of 30 from the Paratroopers special commando unit to a much desired position in the hallways of Washington, on the side of the most powerful people in the world - his answer will most likely be that it was all luck.

This unusual young Israeli from Ra'anana managed in the last few years to become, among other things, Dennis Ross's right-hand man, consultant to President Clinton, and an integral member of the influential Washington crowd.   But this surprising story began as the usual story of almost every young Israeli.   Soon after his release from the IDF in the year 2000, Bergman started his studies at Hebrew University, but after only one year he left and moved to California on the heals of his love to Robin, today his wife...

Workshop Summation and Action Plan Plenary (September 17th, 2005)

...Rob Malley: The industry of religious peace-building is only in its infancy and we’re only taking the first steps. And it’s in a race with the industry of hate-mongering, and we have to play catch-up. But what a good start we had over the last few days. Of course I want to thank President Clinton for that. I want to thank my colleague, Mickey Bergman, who did so much to make this possible, and everyone else that everyone else has thanked and who deserve a real good hand of applause...

US Ramadan Fast-a-Thon Raises Money for Poor / By Courtney C. Radsch

(November 25th, 2003)

Mickey Bergman, a captain in the Israeli Army and a student at Georgetown University who participated in the Fast-a-Thon on Saturday, agreed. He said that every year he tries to attend an iftar for Ramadan as a way to keep his mind open. “The biggest problem of cultures and clashes with other religions is because people don’t know about it,” said Bergman.

Echoes of Conflict

(April 19, 2002)

...Beyond the shouting and the rallies, each side maintains literature tables on the campus walk to influence student opinion. Yesterday, we brought together UCLA students from the Arab American and Jewish communities to discuss their views of the Middle East conflict. Palestinian Yara Dahud, a political science major, was born in Jerusalem. Fadi Amir, a sociology student, was born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Jordan. Panthea Haverim was studying in Israel until last week, when the University of California canceled her program for safety reasons. Mickey Bergman is a former captain in the Israeli defense force, the IDF. He's studying political science. Ghaith Mahmoud is an Iraqi-American active with the Muslim students association. He is studying international development. And Nicole Guzik is a Jewish studies major who plans to become a rabbi...

Brandeis Renaissance / By Wendy J. Mandick (December 1st, 2000)

...The weekend showcased several new additions to BBI designed to further attract young families. Attendees were taken on a hike of the new trail designed by Mickey Bergman, summer staffer and Israeli commando, and John Varble, the institute’s ranch manager. In typical BBI “makes you think” fashion, there are signs along the trail with quotes to ponder, such as: “The Torah begins with the creation of heaven and earth. Why were human beings created last in the order of creation?”...

Survivor, Shmurvivor - Try BCI for a Month / By Debra Askuvich (August 25th, 2000)

...Then there was my Israel awakening. Before BCI, I was always curious about Middle East politics, but from a distance. After 26 days with a group of gifted, intelligent people (six of whom were Israeli), I discovered a deeper interest in Israel. Mickey Bergman, an Israeli advisor on BCI, presented a documentary from his Israeli army unit. It showed tough paratroopers in Lebanon - soldiers reacting to the death of a comrade, soldiers on night patrol, soldiers partying and watching "The Simpsons." The film left me speechless...
